2008 Training Schedule

 Go To Schedule Below

Below, you will find the final listing of Emergency Management Institute (EMI) based courses to be field-delivered in Federal Fiscal year 2008.

Over the past few years, EMI has converted most field-delivered emergency management courses to the Independent Study format. The philosophy was that by converting all Professional Development Series (PDS) courses and many courses that were originally field-delivered, emergency managers would have ready access to the training and therefore complete them more conveniently. We strongly encourage and support everyone involved in emergency management to complete the PDS courses. They are the foundation stone of a successful emergency manager and a successful emergency management program.

A complete list of Independent Study curriculum may be viewed at
www.training.fema.gov/EMIWeb/IS/crslist.asp.

We encourage everyone to complete the National Integrated Management System (NIMS) Independent Study course. PDS and NIMS are mandatory requirements for GOHSEP agency employees. We also recommend any other Independent Study courses that will contribute to advancement in your career path or area of special interest.

In-house training is still available by request. In-house training means that a Parish Director has identified a specific need that can be fulfilled by a specific course, and the number of participants would be 20 or more. The parish (or entity) is required to provide an appropriate facility, and a minimum of 20 participants.

To request in-house training, submit a letter of request to this agency. Include in your letter assurance that you will provide a minimum of 20 attendees, an appropriate facility to conduct the training, and a proposed timeframe. Submit your requests to:
